Back to training

Hi Everyone! It's Andi here! Well after MONTHS of not running! I can give you tons of excuses! I am NOT about to do that, I am fully to blame for my lack of running. I can say that yes, I did have an injury that didn't help much and having to wait on my knee brace was a HUGE reason why I didn't run for months after my 1/2 marathon. I think I was burnt out too. Breaking my foot in 3 spots during my 1/2 marathon was a hard blow to take on me. Then when I did start back to running I had knee pain in my left knee. Well, I now am the proud owner of a Don Joy Nano! It's to help with arthritis! Yes, Stage 4 arthritis at the age of 38! Here is the reason I am writing! 3 reasons! One) Yesterday was the St. Jude Telethon! I have a former student who is a patient of St. Jude. It means a lot to me to see him and to be part of a community that can help support the patients and family of St. Jude. One of our local run organizers gave me a HUGE hug yesterday while he ran by me, told me how he loved me and that next year he hopes I would be on his team. That moved me to tears! Yes, I was crying like a baby! At that point in time I decided to get myself back and get back to running! I know I have 1 year to prepare and to start raising money! Two) I am racing in 1 month! I am doing Pretty Muddy! Which I love me some mud runs! I can't wait to do it! I am excited to be able to do this race! Which is a BIG reason to start training. Better yet, I convinced my girlfriend Kelly to do a 10K with me! It's 8 weeks away! How does someone get back to running? One foot in front of the other! I can't wait to get back to the roads! My last reason #3) Recently, on one of my running groups someone posted about a thing called WHO I RUN 4! Oh, I was beyond excited when I read about this group www.whoirun4.com They have a runner partner with a child or adult who isn't able to run. Now, you see why I am squealing with excitement? As a Special Education teacher I always dedicate my runs to my students who aren't able to run, but THIS is ONE person who I can dedicate all my runs! Even my training runs. Now, I am on the wait list and I KNOW it can a month for me to get a match, but how exciting for me! These are the 3 reason why I am getting my big feet back to the road and run!!! I am looking forward to blogging more about my training runs, my races, and about my match when I get it! Have a blessed day!
