Back to training

Hi Everyone! It's Andi here! Well after MONTHS of not running! I can give you tons of excuses! I am NOT about to do that, I am fully to blame for my lack of running. I can say that yes, I did have an injury that didn't help much and having to wait on my knee brace was a HUGE reason why I didn't run for months after my 1/2 marathon. I think I was burnt out too. Breaking my foot in 3 spots during my 1/2 marathon was a hard blow to take on me. Then when I did start back to running I had knee pain in my left knee. Well, I now am the proud owner of a Don Joy Nano! It's to help with arthritis! Yes, Stage 4 arthritis at the age of 38! Here is the reason I am writing! 3 reasons! One) Yesterday was the St. Jude Telethon! I have a former student who is a patient of St. Jude. It means a lot to me to see him and to be part of a community that can help support the patients and family of St. Jude. One of our local run organizers gave me a HUGE hug yesterday while he ran by me, told me how he loved me and that next year he hopes I would be on his team. That moved me to tears! Yes, I was crying like a baby! At that point in time I decided to get myself back and get back to running! I know I have 1 year to prepare and to start raising money! Two) I am racing in 1 month! I am doing Pretty Muddy! Which I love me some mud runs! I can't wait to do it! I am excited to be able to do this race! Which is a BIG reason to start training. Better yet, I convinced my girlfriend Kelly to do a 10K with me! It's 8 weeks away! How does someone get back to running? One foot in front of the other! I can't wait to get back to the roads! My last reason #3) Recently, on one of my running groups someone posted about a thing called WHO I RUN 4! Oh, I was beyond excited when I read about this group www.whoirun4.com They have a runner partner with a child or adult who isn't able to run. Now, you see why I am squealing with excitement? As a Special Education teacher I always dedicate my runs to my students who aren't able to run, but THIS is ONE person who I can dedicate all my runs! Even my training runs. Now, I am on the wait list and I KNOW it can a month for me to get a match, but how exciting for me! These are the 3 reason why I am getting my big feet back to the road and run!!! I am looking forward to blogging more about my training runs, my races, and about my match when I get it! Have a blessed day!

Here we GO!

As many of you know that Mary Beth (MB) and I have been friends since our early 20's. We have had our share of weight gain, weight loss, injuries, and well you name it I think she and I have had our fun together. That is why we are doing this blog. It's to help everyday people know that it's NOT easy. That as we get older we work harder and harder and the results are not what we always want to see. We are here to help and support you. We will also be giving shout outs to those who inspire us. For me it all my running friends and my family. You never know who you are going to meet at a race! For MB, I am sure it's her gym friends. She likes to workout at the gym. I like the open road! We have two different styles of thinking and training. I am the crazy one who gets up at 5:30 during the summer to log miles. She is the one who likes to go to the gym and do Body Combat (my knees can't do it--or that is what I keep telling myself). Why are we doing this? THINGS SAG! Yes, as a woman you know how things SAG! You start to feel down on yourself. Well step right up and join us on our journey to make you laugh and help you not "sag" like you do now. We will give you inspiration and laughter. Two things we are both very good at! We are here to show you that getting "older" has nothing to do with how you look, it's all about how you feel! Hope you enjoy our story and our journey! If you have questions feel free to ask. If you have suggestions, feel free to suggest! I have a few running items I am going to review on here as well!
